simpleSAN iSCSI Products - Disk-to-Disk Backup!

Accelerating backup and recovery for multiple application servers

The Overland Storage REO SERIES R2000 is a powerful iSCSI appliance that resides on the network between application servers and backup servers to dramatically accelerate backup and recovery performance. Built to solve the most challenging backup problems, this 2U, rack-mounted solution speeds and consolidates data from multiple
application servers—at both local and remote locations—for faster backup and immediate data recovery.

As a key component of your business continuity and data protection strategies, the R2000 works reliably with your existing Ethernet infrastructure and exploits Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and Serial ATA disk technology to reduce backup time, provide immediate recovery and supply remote site data protection.

BakBone Software
Virtual Disk Library
(VDL)
BakBone NetVault 7Take Disk-to-disk functionality on step further by utilizing BakBone's Virtual Disk Library. The VDL feature gives your disk storage (be it SCSI or IDE/ATA, SCSI attached, fibre attached or iSCSI attached) the look and feel of a tape library including advanced media management features with the added benefit of speed and reduced cost associated with disk. Gain more manageability by setting specific backup policies such as retention dates, rotation schemes, media groups. The media manager does not distinguish between VDL “Tape” Libraries red resources. Save sets can be accessed wherever they reside. Send Incrementals to disk for ultra fast restores from disk. Tape now becomes a strategic component of a data protection strategy, rather than the primary ingredient. Use NetVault to create multiple duplications of backup jobs from the Virtual Disk Library, to tape, or vice versa. By storing backup data on a VDL, you can run data copy or duplication jobs off line, without impacting your network, application servers or workstations. With Virtual Disk Libraries, there are none of the mechanical penalties of tape backup over a network, such as shoe-shining, or a slow data stream host. Virtual Disk Libraries captures the data, whether its trickled, blasted, or gently passed along, it all ends up at the receiving end of Virtual Media Slots as a saveset, improving backup window performance markedly.

NetVault’s Virtual Disk Library is a powerful and flexible tool to help decrease your backup window and at the same time increase your ROI on Tape Libraries by streaming the tape drives at highest rates possible.

We are in the middle of evaluating multiple iSCSI manufacturers and the products they have on the market. Because we value your data, we want to ensure compatibility and stability via testing and "plug fest" participation to offer you the "best of breed" solution. Therefore, our product offerings are under development... Please stay tuned.

In the mean time, free feel to call us/engage us with any questions you may have about iSCSI and it's benefits.

iSCSI, all the availability, scaleability and manageability benefits of fibre channel SANs at a fraction of the cost and without the intense learning curve.

"....[Direct Attached Storage] DAS is difficult to manage and is usually the most expensive host-storage connectivity method because it does not provide economies of scale (it's a one-to-one relationship). Those shortcomings have led to network-attached storage (NAS) and storage area networks (SANs).
